and we're tying that knot ...

Flowers

I have decided to keep a couple of things under wraps until the big day because I don't like copycats :P Okay, in all seriousness, I like my little surprises. Capisch? Good. Moving on...

I hate flowers. Always have, probably always will. So as a bride ... I'm screwed.

The only flower I can stomach are roses. Deep red, or creamy white. The rest can be whatever the florist says will do. I don't like plants in general, so I'm doing a lot of compromising in this department.

UPDATE: I have officially my first floral appointment and I could not be more excited. That is if I was excited in the first place. To whoever instituted the presence of flowers in weddings: I salute your MOTHER. Ay. Anyway ...

UPDATE: Got my proposal, recuperated from sticker-shock induced heart attack, revised it, was happy with the results, and now I am going to schedule my prototype for August.

Bridal Bouquet

Picture
I want all white roses. Nothing else. Nothing more.

Like this hot pink bouquet! I hate pink, though.

LOL I'm coming off as such a hater.

But I do love the fullness of the bouquet. And the Swarovski little inserts.

UPDATE: I am flirting with the idea of having deep red roses. As in, blood red roses. Like the bouquet down here. The red roses would give me an excuse to have red shoes as my bridal shoes; yet that would also give my mother a very good excuse to have a conniption, and that is so not ideal.

Picture
Red roses, blood roses.
Picture
Without the pink, this would be almost perfect.

UPDATE: So I changed my mind (I tend to do that) - and I'm going with all ivory, peonies and roses, with crystal inserts, all the stems wrapped in ivory satin (no stems showing - at all!)

Like the picture to the left. Except, of course, bigger.

Okay, I have decided the picture to the left is kinda ugly, but I can't find the exact picture my florist attached to the proposal so let's use our imaginations, wheeee...

Bridesmaids Bouquets

Picture
For now, I'm thinking red flowers, or soft pink (hark, the pink-hater). We'll see! I very much like the bouquet to the left, it's very simple but it's full of colour.

UPDATE: I like the soft pink, but I am not sure if that would clash with their burgundy dresses. No roses for my bridesmaids (lol)! I am flower-knowledge challenged, so I'll consult my florist about this. Dun dun dunnn...

UPDATE: ... I suck at this. Wheeeee

Picture
I like the colours, but I'm not sure if lavender would do...

UPDATE: I have decided to have burgundy roses with blush pink, the stems wrapped in burgundy satin. A fusion of the pictures below. The first pink is kinda ghey, so no. The second pink is the right shade. Yes, pink. Don't judge.
Also, the groom's boutonniere will be ivory spray roses with the stems wrapped in ivory satin. I was very specific about the stems, lol. No stems showing! My dad will also have ivory spray roses as his boutonniere, but wrapped in gold satin. The Groomsmen, burgundy roses, stems wrapped in gold satin, as well as the father of the groom. The mums will have a single stem rose, with the stem wrapped in gold satin.

Ceremony Decor

I'm ... not too sure about how this is going to look like, but I've collected some pictures.
UPDATE: So! I have chosen what we're going to do. Oh, too bad, can't say. Sowee :)

Escort Card table arrangement

I got a little ambitious with this, and this is what my florist and I came up with:

Oot. It's secret :)

Reception Flowers & Decor

Dear centerpieces,
I hate you.
Yours (NOT.)
~Jen.

Alright, kidding aside, these will give me a headache when the time comes to choose them. I just know it! I have no idea what kind of flowers I should use (unless you count description: CHEAP), what exact colours to use, shape, bling, NNNADA. I do know this:

  • No green. Unless it's so dark it's almost brown, take your green to WholeFoods.
  • I want high and tall. It gives the room a flow. All tall = forest. All low = meh
Below, some pictures I like. Enjoy.

UPDATE: No green. Not a single drop of canary yellow. Not EVER.
No calla lillies. No tulips (you know what? convince me).

UPDATE: So I chose burgundy roses centerpieces. High and tall, varying from table to table. I'm supposed to choose between the golden candelabras for the tall pieces or the crystal ones, we'll see. I can't find pictures of what I'm thinking without the roses being covered in stinking green, so eh.

My florist had an amazing idea for - WHAT'S THAT? Oh, it's nothing :) Circulate. Thanks.
